Woman and sons break into French school to settle dispute, one armed with knife
In the French town of Poissy, a woman and her two sons, one of whom was armed with a knife, forcibly entered the grounds of Lycée Le Corbusier to resolve a dispute with one of the students.
The incident occurred on March 14 morning at the secondary school located in the Beauregard district of Poissy, Caliber.Az reports via Le Parisien.
Although neither of the brothers attended the school, the younger sibling had a conflict with one of the students, which led to the armed altercation.
Police detained the mother and one of the brothers, while the other managed to escape. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the school staff quickly moved the students to safety.
Poissy Mayor Sandrine Dos Santos expressed concern over the rising incidents of violence near the school, noting several reports of violence and thefts since January.
“Since January, incidents of violence and thefts have been reported near the Le Corbusier school complex. Today there are new developments at the institution that differ from the previous ones. I certainly share the valid concerns of students, parents, and the educational community,” said Dos Santos.
The mayor assured that law enforcement remained vigilant, as demonstrated by the swift intervention of police officers.
“The coordination of all these actors on the ground probably avoided the tragedy,” Dos Santos added. She also called for more police patrols around the school perimeter.
Approximately a month ago, Poissy also witnessed a knife fight involving students from Charles de Gaulle High School. On February 12, four young men, three of whom were high school students, fought at a city bus stop. Three of them were injured and hospitalized, and the fourth participant was detained.
“We are extremely vigilant, as evidenced by the rapid intervention of the police force, national police, and municipal police,” said Dos Santos.
Meanwhile, in Sweden, a tragic event took place on February 4, when an unidentified man opened fire on a school campus in the town of Örebro. The attack resulted in the deaths of 11 people, including the perpetrator. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the incident the worst mass shooting in the country’s history.
