World’s first AI-generated "minister" addresses Albanian parliament VIDEO
The world’s first artificial intelligence “minister” of government delivered a speech in the Albanian parliament.
Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the bot as a symbol of his government's commitment to transparency and innovation, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The “minister” appeared as a woman wearing a traditional Albanian costume.
" The Constitution speaks of institutions at the people’s service. It doesn’t speak of chromosomes, of flesh or blood," the avatar declared in a three-minute address broadcast from two large screens.
The AI minister said that the constitution speaks of responsibilities, accountability, transparency, and non-discriminatory service.
" I assure you that I embody such values as strictly as every human colleague, maybe even more," the artificial persona added.
At the same time, opposition lawmakers sharply criticised the innovation, arguing that the program actually allows the government to hide corruption.
Earlier reports noted that Albania became the first country in the world to appoint an AI as a minister. A virtual official, nicknamed Diella, which means "sun" in Albanian, was unveiled by Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Socialist Party congress of the Socialist Party in Tirana.
According to Rama, Diella will be responsible for public procurement, assessing tenders for corruption and transparency, and receiving decisions from ministries and budgetary institutions.
