World War II shell found and destroyed in Ukraine's Lviv
A World War II-era artillery shell was discovered in the Ukrainian city of Lviv, prompting a response from emergency services, according to Ukrinform, citing the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The report states that on April 3 at 15:07, rescuers were alerted to a suspicious rusty object found by passersby on Lukaseva Street. The object was later identified as a 75-mm artillery shell.
Emergency specialists arrived at the scene and secured the area with warning tape before calling in pyrotechnic experts from the Mobile Rescue Rapid Response Centre “Lviv.” The team removed the unexploded ordnance and destroyed it in accordance with established safety procedures.
Authorities noted that such discoveries are not uncommon in the region. In the summer of 2025, pyrotechnics removed 138 World War II-era explosive devices from a private property in Lviv.
