WP: Trump's earnings reach historic high for sitting US presidents
US President Donald Trump's surge in income during 2025 was unprecedented for a sitting American president, The Washington Post reports, citing his latest financial disclosure.
The outlet said no previous US president has reported earnings comparable to those Trump disclosed while in office.
It noted that his income soared to more than $2.2 billion last year, driven by investments in cryptocurrencies and related ventures.
Trump's financial disclosure, released by the US Office of Government Ethics on June 30, showed he earned about $2.2 billion in 2025, including more than $1 billion from cryptocurrency-related activities.
The filing said Trump received about $500 million from cryptocurrency sales by World Liberty Financial, where his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. hold senior positions.
He also earned about $600 million in royalties from sales of the $TRUMP digital currency.
Trump reported a net worth of more than $2.4 billion in the disclosure.
However, The Washington Post wrote that the actual value of his assets is likely significantly higher because of financial reporting rules.
According to Forbes, Trump's assets were worth about $6.5 billion as of March 2026.
