WP: US uses Claude AI to identify targets in Iran
The United States is selecting targets in operations against Iran using the Claude artificial intelligence (AI) system, developed by the military technology company Palantir, the Washington Post reports.
“Advanced AI technology is identifying targets in Iran and quickly prioritising them, supporting the massive military operations carried out by US and Israeli forces”, the report states.
The article notes that in preparing operations, the US has already used the platform to identify and map the coordinates of “hundreds of targets” and to compile prioritised target lists.
According to sources familiar with the system, the AI enables the extraction of critical information from vast amounts of classified data collected via satellites and other intelligence operations, aiding in real-time targeting and priority setting.
Claude has previously aided in counterterrorism efforts and the operation that captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, but this marks its first use in a full-scale military conflict.
