WSJ: Trump rejects plan to seize Iran’s Kharg Island over casualty concerns

US President Donald Trump rejected military plans to seize Iran’s Kharg Island due to concerns over potentially high losses among American troops, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources.

According to the publication, military officials had been persuading the White House leader that an operation involving a landing on the island could succeed. 

However, Trump concluded that a ground operation would make US soldiers “easy targets” and could result in “unacceptably high losses.”
