WSJ: Trump's allies called him for months to decapitate Iranian gov't

Supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump had been urging him for several months to “decapitate” Iran’s regime, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.

According to the newspaper, those advocating such a move included not only Republican lawmakers but also Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They argued that the ayatollahs’ government “was the weakest it had ever been.”

"For months, allies from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Republican lawmakers told Trump that the Iranian government was the weakest it had ever been, and urged him to seize a once-in-a-generation opportunity to decapitate the regime," the article reads.
