WSJ: Zelenskyy refuses Trump’s call to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that he had rejected US President Donald Trump’s request to stop striking Russian oil refineries.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Zelenskyy said that Trump had asked him to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries amid rising global diesel prices.

Zelenskyy said he rejected the request because he believes the increase in prices is primarily being driven by the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz rather than Ukrainian strikes on Russia.

He also added that if everyone wants to resolve the issue of diesel prices in this way, then they should help Ukraine stop Vladimir Putin and his blackouts in Ukraine and “force” him to stop attacking civilian infrastructure.

“Our lives are more important than the price of energy,” the Ukrainian leader stressed, noting that diesel prices may matter to some people.
