X offline: Users report widespread access failures
Thousands of users reported difficulties accessing Elon Musk’s social media platform X on Monday, with many unable to view new posts or load the app at all.
Monitoring site Downdetector recorded more than 11,000 global reports of service issues as of 13:50 GMT, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
X did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The platform has experienced several major outages since Musk acquired it in 2022. In March last year, Musk attributed a series of disruptions to a “massive cyberattack” claimed by pro-Palestinian hacktivist group Dark Storm via Telegram.
Other interruptions include a multi-hour shutdown in May following a fire at a data centre in Oregon and a November outage caused by a network failure at cybersecurity firm Cloudflare Inc. Smaller, periodic disruptions have also been reported.
Musk’s artificial intelligence firm xAI purchased X in March 2025. Earlier this month, xAI merged with Musk’s space exploration company SpaceX.
