Xi Jinping arrives in US for talks with Trump VIDEO

Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in the United States for a state visit scheduled to run from September 23 to 25, with US President Donald Trump personally greeting him at Joint Base Andrews.

Xi was accompanied by his wife, Peng Liyuan, Cai Qi, head of the General Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Trump and Xi are set to hold their main talks on September 24, with trade expected to be one of the key issues on the agenda. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington and Beijing had agreed to extend their existing trade truce until January 10, 2027, after the previous deadline was due to expire on November 10.

The two leaders are also expected to discuss export restrictions, supplies of rare-earth elements and other critical minerals, US restrictions on advanced chips and technologies, artificial intelligence, Taiwan, and China’s relations with Iran.
