Xi Jinping: China-EU ties to illuminate world
A healthy and stable China-EU relationship will illuminate the world, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a congratulatory letter to European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
In the message dedicated to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the European Union, President Xi emphasised the global significance of the China-EU partnership, calling it a key force in promoting multipolarity, globalisation, and cultural diversity, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
“China-EU ties have become one of the most influential bilateral relations in the world, and have made important contributions to improving the well-being of the Chinese and European peoples, as well as promoting world peace and development,” the president noted, highlighting the progress made over the past five decades in political dialogue, trade, cultural exchanges, and multilateral cooperation.
"Our ties not only promote mutual achievements, but also illuminate the world," the letter reads.
The Chinese leader urged both sides to seize the anniversary as an opportunity to deepen strategic communication, enhance mutual trust, expand openness, and jointly address global challenges. He called for strengthened cooperation in safeguarding multilateralism, opposing unilateral bullying, and promoting a fair and inclusive world order.
Similarly, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening its comprehensive strategic partnership with the European Union.
Li stated that China is ready to work closely with the EU to enhance the stability, constructiveness, reciprocity, and global influence of China-EU relations. He emphasised that a strong and cooperative partnership between the two sides would contribute to global stability and bring “more positive energy” to the international community.
