Xi Jinping may visit Russia in 2023
The official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia may take place in 2023, according to Russian Ambassador to Beijing Igor Morgulov.
The Chinese leader's trip will be a response to Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the Olympics in China in February this year, Gazeta.Ru reports citing the ambassador.
"In order of priority, a state visit to Russia by the President of the People's Republic of China should be organised next year, which is likely to take place, as can be assumed, after the end of the sessions of the Chinese parliament, traditionally held in early spring," Morgulov explained.
As the Russian ambassador pointed out, the interaction between Xi Jinping and Putin is the main driving force in the relations between the two states. He also added that an important factor here is the close attention of the leaders to the development of cooperation.
"Of particular importance is both the close attention paid by the leaders to the development of mutual cooperation and the personal trusting and friendly relations that have developed between them," Morgulov stressed.
