Yemen says it foiled large-scale assassination plot targeting officials in Aden
Yemen’s internationally recognised government has announced that it has foiled a major plot aimed at carrying out assassination attempts against political and security officials in the southern city of Aden.
Interior Minister Ibrahim Ali Ahmed Haidan said security forces disrupted what he described as the largest assassination conspiracy targeting the country’s temporary capital. According to him, the operation prevented planned attacks against prominent politicians and military figures, although he did not disclose the identities of the alleged targets, Caliber.Az reports via Aawsat.
Haidan said the investigation indicated that terrorist cells linked to foreign entities were preparing the attacks.
He also stated that authorities uncovered evidence of external funding and logistical support for the suspected conspirators, along with documents and maps showing the scale of the planned operations.
The minister emphasised ongoing high-level coordination with Saudi Arabia and expressed appreciation for its support in counterterrorism efforts.
