Yemeni forces strike US aircraft carrier, Israeli military sites amid Gaza crisis
Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e has announced the successful execution of an operation targeting the American aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman in the northern Red Sea.
The operation, which utilized two cruise missiles and four drones, was described as a decisive action against what the Yemeni forces allege was a U.S. preparation for a large-scale airstrike on Yemen, Caliber.Az reports, citing Arabic media.
According to the spokesperson, this action effectively thwarted the planned American assault: “The operation, by the grace of God, prevented the American attack.”
The Yemeni forces also revealed a series of strikes against Israeli targets. The first operation targeted a military facility in occupied Jaffa using two drones. A second operation struck a vital Israeli site in occupied Ashkelon, causing significant damage. Later in the evening, another drone strike successfully hit the military site in Jaffa once again.
The Yemeni Armed Forces emphasized that their military operations are part of their ongoing support for the Palestinian resistance. They declared that these operations will continue until the Israeli aggression against Gaza ceases and the blockade is lifted.
“Our operations are in support of the Palestinian resistance,” the statement affirmed, “and they will not stop until the aggression on Gaza ends and the blockade is removed.”
Since Israel launched its offensive on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Yemen has been vocal in its support for Palestine, condemning the Israeli occupation and its actions. The ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 45,854 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children.
In addition to missile strikes, Yemeni forces have also targeted ships associated with Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom, viewing these actions as part of a broader effort to force an end to what they describe as Israel’s “genocidal war” on Gaza. Yemeni officials have pledged to continue their attacks until Israel halts its ground and aerial offensives.
