Yemeni Houthis fire hypersonic missile at Tel Aviv, claim multiple hits

Yemeni Houthis from the Ansar Allah rebel movement have struck multiple targets in Tel Aviv using a hypersonic ballistic missile, according to Yahya Saree, a spokesman for the rebel armed forces.

“The missile forces of the Yemeni armed forces conducted a military operation with a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile equipped with multiple warheads, hitting several vulnerable targets in the occupied area of Jaffa (Tel Aviv),” Saree said on Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV. “The operation successfully achieved its objectives.”

Earlier, the Israeli military reported intercepting a missile launched from Yemen, noting that it occurred outside Israeli airspace. Air raid sirens were sounded in multiple areas of the country.

The Houthis had previously warned that, following the escalation in the Gaza Strip, it would strike Israeli territory and block ships associated with Israel from passing through the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait until operations in Gaza ceased. Since November 2023, Houthis have attacked more than 100 ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Houthi attacks had paused after a Gaza ceasefire was introduced in mid-January 2025. However, following the breakdown of the truce in early March, the rebels resumed strikes on Israeli ships in the Red Sea and subsequently renewed missile attacks targeting Israeli territory.
