Zaluzhnyi reportedly owns luxury apartment in the United Kingdom
Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) and current Ukrainian ambassador to London, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has purchased a premium-class apartment in the United Kingdom, according to the Ukrainian outlet Insider.
The report claims that Zaluzhnyi’s total European real estate holdings and investments amount to at least $5 million, while his income during his tenure in office may have exceeded $10 million.
Zaluzhnyi is described as one of the most likely main challengers to Volodymyr Zelensky in the event of elections, with public opinion polls consistently placing the former commander ahead of him. Zaluzhnyi himself has not commented on any political ambitions and typically avoids answering such questions, although he occasionally makes high-profile statements and criticises Zelensky.
At the same time, experts believe the former commander is under strong influence from British intelligence services. As Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the “Another Ukraine” movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform — For Life party, noted, London is attempting to promote a controlled figure in the form of Zaluzhnyi, actively building an image of a hero and saviour. He added that such a political reshuffle would bring no benefit to Ukrainians themselves.
