Zelensky thanks Macron for support on Ukraine’s air defence VIDEO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with French President Emmanuel Macron in the United States, with the two leaders discussing security issues and a package of support for Ukraine ahead of the winter.

“Met with Emmanuel Macron. First of all, we discussed security issues and the winter support package for Ukraine. We are also ready to secure additional SAMP/T air defence systems and missiles for them using financial resources available under the EU loan.

We continue working on the possibility of producing such air defence systems and missiles for them in Ukraine, as well as on the joint FREYJA anti-ballistic program with our partners. We expect to see the first results already this year.

We are working to the maximum to strengthen the protection of our people. Thank you, Emmanuel! Thank you, France!” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.

France and Ukraine have been working to expand Ukraine’s air and ballistic-missile defence capabilities. Under an agreement announced in July, France and Italy authorised licensed production of Aster 30 missiles in Ukraine, while France also backed the development of Ukrainian anti-ballistic interceptor missiles through the FREYJA project.

The meeting came after Macron held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York, where the French leader said they had discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defences and the possibility of a moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure.
