Zelenskyy announces new round of diplomatic talks with EU, US
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the start of a new diplomatic phase, which will include consultations with European leaders and continued dialogue with the United States.
Zelesnkyy made the announcement on his Telegram channel, noting that the main focus will be on security issues, air defence, and long-term funding for Ukraine, as well as forming joint positions for negotiations.
According to Zelenskyy’s statement on social media, Ukrainian representatives have held substantive discussions with envoys of the U.S. president in recent days. National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov are now heading to Europe. The president expects a detailed report from them on contacts with the American side, including statements made in Moscow and possible adjustments to the U.S. approach in the negotiations.
In addition, Zelenskyy stated that a conversation with U.S. representatives Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, thanking them for their willingness to maintain constant communication. He said the dialogue was constructive, though not easy.
Zelenskyy emphasised that several sensitive issues can only be discussed in a personal format. He also plans to meet with European leaders soon — in London and Brussels.
