Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Sweden for a working visit. The president will hold a series of important meetings, according to Zelenskyy's Telegram.
The president has arrived in Sweden together with the First Lady of Ukraine. Zelenskyy will hold meetings with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Speaker Andreas Norlén, and heads of parliamentary parties, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"Extensive Ukrainian-Swedish negotiations. I would like to personally thank Sweden for supporting our struggle for freedom and independence," the president noted.
He emphasizes that the primary goal of the trip is to strengthen Ukrainian forces on land and in the sky, develop bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defence industry, Ukraine's European integration, and joint security in the Euro-Atlantic region.
"Our full support for Sweden on its way to NATO. We are confident that together we will guarantee reliable peace in the entire Baltic-Black Sea-Azov region," Zelenskyy added.
Sweden's assistance
Sweden was one of the countries that supported Ukraine in the early days of the full-scale Russian invasion. Stockholm provided assistance to its troops, including heavy equipment.
Moreover, in July, Sweden and France signed a bilateral agreement for Ukraine regarding defence procurement.
Recently, the Minister of Defence of Sweden announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth $300 million. It includes ammunition and spare parts for previously supplied weapon systems.
