Zelenskyy calls for Europe to build its own anti-ballistic shield PHOTO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian missile and drone attacks on multiple regions of Ukraine killed at least eight people and wounded dozens more, renewing his call for stronger European air defense capabilities.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said a Russian missile strike on the city of Dnipro targeted infrastructure, with rescue operations continuing at the scene, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the Ukrainian president, at least five people were killed and 29 others injured in the attack.

Zelenskyy also said a Russian drone strike hit a passenger minibus in the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, killing three people and injuring six others, including a child.

He added that Russian forces carried out a "double-tap" strike in the city of Nikopol, targeting first responders and a fire engine. Zelenskyy also accused Russia of attacking energy infrastructure in the Sumy, Odesa and Chernihiv regions, as well as launching strikes on the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.

Reuters could not independently verify the claims, and there was no immediate comment from Russia on the reported attacks.

Zelenskyy called for increased efforts to counter Russian aerial attacks, saying Ukraine and Europe need stronger anti-ballistic defense capabilities.

"It is essential that Europe is as active as possible in developing its own anti-ballistic defense – its own systems and missiles," he wrote. "The sooner we have more of these capabilities, the more lives we will be able to save."
