Zelenskyy commends Oslo’s steadfast military, humanitarian support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Norway for its sustained support, emphasizing that the two countries have stood together through multiple phases of Russia’s war against Ukraine and Europe as a whole.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv and Oslo have cooperated closely in the fields of defence, diplomacy, the economy, and humanitarian assistance since the start of the full-scale invasion.
“Norway is one of the most active investors in the PURL program, which enables us to purchase American weapons, primarily air defence missiles. As of today, this amounts to $970 million within the framework of PURL,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader thanked Norway for each military assistance package, underscoring the long-term and predictable nature of Oslo’s support, which he said allows Ukraine to effectively plan its defence and broader strategic actions.
“We are grateful that after February 24, 2022, you made a principled and strong choice not simply in favor of Ukraine and Ukrainians, but in favor of what Europe stands for: a community of nations that value human life and respect peace between independent states,” Zelenskyy stated while addressing the media alongside Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
