Zelenskyy hails key diplomatic breakthroughs as Ukraine moves closer to peace

07 August 2025 13:13

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared a milestone in Ukraine’s pursuit of a just and lasting peace, citing a series of high-level diplomatic engagements aimed at reinforcing the nation’s independence and bolstering its security amid ongoing conflict.

“Today is a day of many calls and contacts for real progress towards peace and ensuring Ukraine's independence under any circumstances,” Zelenskyy stated, underscoring the intensification of Ukraine's diplomatic efforts on multiple fronts, Caliber.Az reports.

The president revealed that several critical discussions had been scheduled, including a planned conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. In addition, he confirmed ongoing coordination with counterparts in France and Italy, noting that a special format meeting involving national security advisers would also take place on August 7.

“I have instructed that this unique format be held, ensuring alignment among our partners on the most urgent priorities,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian leader also disclosed that he had engaged in separate talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and Finnish President Alexander Stubb following a broader conversation the previous day with US President Donald Trump and key European leaders.

“We are working together. It is important to discuss the key details. The priorities are absolutely clear,” Zelenskyy emphasized, pointing to unity among Ukraine’s allies in charting a course toward regional stability.
