Zelenskyy: Russia fired over 50 missiles, 500 drones at Ukraine in nighttime attack
In the early hours of October 5, Ukraine came under a large-scale combined attack by Russia.
“The enemy used more than 50 missiles and around 500 strike drones, including Shaheds, cruise missiles, and Kinzhal systems,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram, Caliber.Az reports.
Nine regions were targeted in the assault — Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad.
“According to preliminary data, around 10 people were injured in the attack. Unfortunately, five have died. My sincere condolences to all who lost loved ones as a result of this terror,” Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that he receives regular reports from relevant agencies and expects a swift response to the aftermath of the strikes.
“Today, the Russians again attacked our infrastructure — everything that ensures a normal life for people. We need more protection and faster implementation of all defence agreements, especially on air defence, to deprive this air terror of any purpose,” the head of state stressed.
Zelenskyy also emphasised that a unilateral ceasefire in the airspace could become a step toward a diplomatic settlement.
“America and Europe must act to make Putin stop,” he added.
