Zelenskyy's office calls Patriarch Kirill's truce proposal "cynical trap"
The Ukrainian president’s advisor Mykhailo Podolyak has commented on a recent call by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ to establish a Christmas truce in the war zone in Ukraine.
Podolyak called the proposal a "cynical trap" and "an element of propaganda", according to Kommersant.
Zelenskyy’s advisor also tweeted that the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) was not an authority of world orthodoxy and was engaged in propaganda.
He accused the ROC of supporting the special operation and calling for "even greater militarization of the Russian Federation".
Earlier on January 5, Patriarch Kirill proposed introducing a Christmas truce from 12:00 pm on January 6 to 00:00 am on January 7 so that Orthodox people could attend services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
