Zelenskyy says Ukraine downed Shahed drones during Iran war

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces shot down Iranian-designed Shahed drones in multiple Middle Eastern countries during what he described as the Iran war, marking a rare acknowledgement of Ukrainian military activity abroad.

Zelenskyy said the operations were carried out using domestically produced interceptor drones developed and tested in combat in Ukraine, and were aimed at countering the same systems used by Russia in its war against Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

He did not specify which countries were involved or provide operational details.

The remarks were made in a briefing to reporters on Wednesday and released under embargo until Friday (April 10).
