Zelenskyy says Ukraine now produces 40 Bohdana howitzers monthly
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has outlined how Ukraine now produces 40 Bohdana howitzers monthly.
During his address, he noted that despite ongoing challenges, Ukrainians have succeeded in building a national defence industry, with some products surpassing global standards, Caliber.Az reports, citing RBC-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy highlighted that the country had “established record-fast and high-quality production of domestic artillery systems.”
The president also said that last year, Ukraine delivered 2.4 million mortar and artillery shells of various calibres to the front.
“Ukrainian naval drones have become a global defence sensation. They allowed us to regain control over part of the Black Sea, which is essential for the stability of our state and for protecting our cities — Odesa and others,” he stated.
Since the Russian full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine has significantly accelerated the development of its domestic defence industry.
The country has focused on producing artillery systems, drones, missiles, and other munitions to supply its armed forces and maintain operational independence.
Western military assistance, combined with Ukraine’s engineering and industrial capabilities, has helped scale production of weapons such as self-propelled howitzers, mortars, and naval drones.
The 2S22 Bohdana is a 155 mm NATO-standard calibre, wheeled self-propelled howitzer developed in Ukraine. Its prototype is mounted on the chassis of the Ukrainian six-wheel-drive KrAZ-6322 truck. It has an armoured cabin and storage for 20 shells.
