Zelenskyy says Ukraine understands Putin’s mindset better than US
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Kyiv has a deeper insight into Russian President Vladimir Putin’s thinking than the United States does.
Speaking exclusively to US media, Zelenskyy said Ukraine “comprehends the Russian mentality better than Americans do,” Caliber.Az reports.
He expressed doubt that Putin intends to end the fighting, underlining the complexity and severity of the conflict.
The Ukrainian leader also dismissed US President Donald Trump’s recent analogy of the war as “two kids fighting on a playground,” calling it an oversimplification that ignores the harsh realities on the ground.
He described Putin as a “murderer” and insisted that the war is “a serious and devastating reality for Ukraine.”
In the same interview, Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine’s willingness to accept a US-brokered ceasefire but accused Putin of seeking Ukraine’s “total defeat.”
He argued that only “hard pressure” from the US and European allies could force Putin to adopt a more realistic stance and push towards peace.
