Zelenskyy: Ukraine exports 1 million tonnes of grain under new deal
Ukraine managed to export the first million tons of food since the beginning of a full-scale war to Russia.
This happened 26 days after the start of the “grain corridor,” RBC-Ukraine quotes President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy as saying.
“The export grain initiative has been working for almost a month, and during this time, our three seaports – Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny – have exported the first million tons of agricultural products since February 24,” he said.
He noted that the supply of Ukrainian grain to the world food market allows to prevent chaos in the market, relieve the acuteness of the food crisis and prevent catastrophic shortages.
The President added that Ukraine was, is and will be among the guarantors of world food security.
He noted that 44 vessels with Ukrainian agricultural products have already been sent to 15 countries of the world. Also, Ukraine has another 70 applications for the arrival of ships for loading.
“The goal is to reach the volume of 3 million tons of export by sea every month. And this is very important for Africa, Asia, Europe,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that the export of grain not only supports the international subjectivity of Ukraine but also provides jobs for the citizens of our country. According to him, the “grain corridor” means hundreds of thousands of jobs, revenues for Ukrainian companies and the state budget, as well as funds for next year’s sowing season.
