Zelenskyy: Ukraine unites Europe and US PHOTO / VIDEO

07 January 2026 10:49

On January 6, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Euro-Atlantic solidarity has proven effective and must be maintained for shared security and interests, adding that “together we can achieve more — Ukraine unites Europe and America.”

Speaking on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy highlighted the global nature of the current “Coalition of the Willing” meeting in Paris, attended by 27 national leaders, the European Union, NATO, and representatives from Türkiye, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

He described discussions as highly substantive and at a very high level.

The Ukrainian leader pointed to key coalition documents, including a joint declaration from all participants and a trilateral declaration between France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, which signal Europe’s and coalition members’ readiness to ensure real security.

The documents also provide a legal framework for the deployment of coalition forces in Ukraine once the war concludes.

They specify which countries are prepared to take the lead in security on land, air, and sea, as well as in post-war reconstruction, and outline necessary forces, command structures, monitoring mechanisms, and funding arrangements. Zelenskyy stressed that the effectiveness of all coalition elements will rely on the strength of the Ukrainian armed forces.

Discussions continued on a diplomatic pathway to ending the war with the U.S. delegation, including Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Washington for its readiness to provide a backstop covering security guarantees, ceasefire monitoring, and reconstruction efforts.

Teams from Ukraine will continue work on security guarantees and a framework to end the war on January 7 in Paris. The delegation includes Kirill Budanov, Rustem Umerov, General Andrii Hnatov, Sergiy Kyslytsya, and Oleksandr Bevz. Zelenskyy thanked President Trump and the United States for their support, saying Ukraine “does not waste a single day.”
