Zelenskyy visits flood-hit districts of Mykolaiv region
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has visited the Mykolaiv region which was also affected by the blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant by the Russians.
Zelenskyy in the Mykolayiv region visited the Main Pumping Station of the Ingulets River Canal Authority, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the head of state in Telegram.
It was under water due to the failure of the dam of the Kakhovka hydropower plant.
"People in flooded settlements have been evacuated, rescuers and authorities are on site. We are supplying people with drinking water and necessary foodstuffs," President Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian head of state also said that the Snihyryiv community set up a staff to eliminate the consequences of the catastrophe, which is working around the clock.
The critical Nova Kakhovka dam is the largest reservoir in Ukraine in terms of volume. It’s the last of the cascade of six Soviet-era dams on the Dnipro River, a major waterway running through southeastern Ukraine. There are multiple towns and cities downstream, including Kherson, a city of some 300,000 people before Moscow’s invasion of its neighbor.
