Zelenskyy warns Russia preparing new large-scale strike on Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, citing intelligence reports, that Russia is preparing a new large-scale strike on Ukrainian cities and settlements.
In a statement following talks with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Zelenskyy said he had shared details of Ukraine’s intelligence assessments and warned that Moscow was planning further attacks.
“I informed the Chancellor about our intelligence data, according to which the Russians are preparing a new massive strike on Ukrainian cities and communities,” he said.
Zelenskyy stressed the importance of coordinated international support, particularly in strengthening Ukraine’s air and missile defence systems.
“It is very important that these attacks receive a coordinated response from partners, especially in the supply of anti-ballistic systems,” he said.
He also said the two leaders discussed Ukraine’s EU integration process, expressing hope that the first negotiation cluster could be opened in June.
“We expect the first cluster to be opened in June. This is fair; Ukrainians deserve it,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Austria supported this position.
In a separate statement, the Ukrainian president warned that Russia continued to rely on missile strikes rather than diplomatic engagement, calling for increased sanctions pressure and faster delivery of air defence systems.
“Anti-ballistic capability is a key task,” he said, adding that Ukraine was preparing proposals for a new European sanctions package and measures to prevent sanctions evasion.
