Zelenskyy: We are negotiating with "Kinzhal" and "Shahed"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that nearly 500 drones, including a significant number of Shahed drones, and 40 missiles, including hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, were launched overnight, targeting Kyiv and damaging both energy and civilian infrastructure.

In a message on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy said:

"Russian officials conduct long discussions, but in reality, it is the 'Kinzhal' and 'Shahed' that speak for them. This reflects the true stance of Putin and his inner circle. They do not want to end the war."

He added: "If Russia, even during Christmas and New Year, turns this time into a period of destroyed homes, burnt apartments, and ruined power stations, such a cruel activity can only be met with truly strong measures. America has this capability, Europe has this capability, and many of our partners have this capability. The key is to make use of it."

Finally, Zelenskyy stressed the importance of continued support for Ukraine’s defence:

"Equally important is to continue supporting Ukrainian defence and the protection of life. Air defence supplies must be sufficient and timely, especially now, when they are most needed. There should be no delays in saving lives."
