Zuckerberg’s superyacht failed to respond to request for help off Alaska

10 August 2026 09:58

Launchpad, a superyacht owned by Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, failed to respond to a request for help from a small boat that ran out of fuel and ran aground off the coast of Alaska.

The 21-foot boat attempted to contact Launchpad several times because the yacht was nearby, but received no response from its crew. The fishermen were eventually assisted by the cruise ship Wilderness Legacy, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Alaska Beacon.

According to cruise passenger Michael Love, people on board booed the captain after he announced that Zuckerberg’s yacht had left a radio call for help unanswered.

However, the US Coast Guard and the Alaska Marine Exchange clarified that no official distress signal had been issued. It was a routine request for assistance rather than an emergency call.

A representative for Zuckerberg later said that neither the billionaire nor any members of his family were aboard Launchpad at the time of the incident.
