Azerbaijani president: I hope Armenia doesn’t miss chance for peace

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that hopefully, Armenia will not miss the chance for establishing regional peace.

The president made the remakrs in a joint press conference with Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz in Berlin on March 14, Azertag reports.

"Now is the time for peace. We have offered Armenia peace, we have offered a peace treaty based on five principles," Aliyev said.

“I hope Armenia doesn’t miss this opportunity and that the period of peace and cooperation finally begins in the South Caucasus,” the head of state added.

Unfortunately, the Armenian leadership, which used to see Karabakh as Armenia, missed its chance for peace. In 2019, the prime minister of today's Armenia said that “Karabakh is Armenia, full stop”, which actually dealt the biggest blow to peace talks, Aliyev stressed duing the joint press conference.

The President of Azerbaijan said: “We proved in the 44-day Patriotic War that Karabakh is Azerbaijan, exclamation mark! We put this exclamation mark in Shusha on November 8, 2020.”
