Turkish FM, Ukrainian envoy congratulate Azerbaijan on Independence Day

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has congratulated Azerbaijan on Independence Day - May 28.

"My greetings to brotherly Azerbaijan", Report quotes Cavusoglu as saying while attending the second round of presidential elections in Türkiye.

He said Azerbaijan gained independence 105 years ago: "I congratulate Azerbaijan on Independence Day with all my heart. Today is an important date for us".

Moreover, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci congratulated the Azerbaijani people on May 28 - Independence Day in a posting on Twitter.

According to Caliber.Az, the publication says: “Congratulations to fraternal Azerbaijan on Independence Day! Long live the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood!”

In the meantime, Ukraine's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladislav Kanevsky also congratulated Azerbaijan on this national holiday in a Facebook post.

Caliber.Az quotes, the congratulatory message as reading: "On this day, exactly 105 years ago, the independent Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was proclaimed. This event is one of the brightest pages in the history of the Azerbaijani people, marking the unity of the country as well as the establishment of the first democratic republic in the Muslim East.

The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic laid the foundations for many of the best practices of the time and established diplomatic relations with a number of countries, including Ukraine. Modern Azerbaijan has multiplied the successes of its ancestors and is developing and strengthening its positions in the international arena thanks to its successful domestic and foreign policy. I take this opportunity to wish peace, harmony and prosperity to the friendly people of Azerbaijan.”
