Armenian provocation kills two civilians in Khojavend
Criminal case launched

An investigation was launched on the basis of information received on September 19, 2023, about the death of two civilians as a result of a mine explosion at the 58th kilometre of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road, State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan told Caliber.Az.

During the preliminary investigation, it was established that on September 19, at about 03:45, on the 58th kilometre of the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha road, passing through the territory of the Khojavend region, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, a Shacman Howo car was blown up by an anti-tank a mine laid by a sabotage and subversive group of the Armenian armed forces.

As a result of the terrorist attack, civilians who were employees of the 43rd Department of the State Road Agency of Azerbaijan, Farhad Guliyev (1965) and Samir Sadikhov (1970) were killed.

The State Security Service of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case under articles 214.2.1, 214.2.2, 214.2.3 (terrorism committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organised group or a criminal association), 120.2.1, 120.2.4, 120.2.7, 120.2.10, 120.2.11, 120.2. 12 (premeditated murder of two or more persons committed with particular cruelty or in a generally dangerous manner by a group of persons by prior conspiracy motivated by ethnic hatred or enmity), 228.3 (unlawful acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transport or carrying by an organised group of weapons, components, ammunition, and explosive devices) and others.

Comprehensive investigative and operational measures are being carried out in the criminal case, and the public will be provided with additional information on its progress.
