Iranian president arrives in Azerbaijan to take part in ECO summit PHOTO
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Azerbaijan on July 4 to participate in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
An honour guard was lined up at Fuzuli International Airport in honour of the distinguished guest, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Pezeshkian was welcomed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts Emin Huseynov, and other officials.
Azerbaijan and Iran are both founding members of ECO.
The ECO Leaders' Summit is being held in Khankandi for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the region’s post-conflict reintegration efforts. High-level delegations from all 10 member states — including Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan — are attending the summit. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is also participating in the event as an observer.
The summit provides a platform for regional leaders to strengthen economic ties, discuss infrastructure and energy cooperation, and reinforce commitments to sustainable development across the ECO region.
