The deepening of economic and strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan took center stage during a high-level meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held on the sidelines of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Khankendi on July 3.

The talks focused on enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as trade, energy security, transport, and investment, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advancing a comprehensive strategic partnership, Caliber.Az reports, citing a statement by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.

The ministers emphasised that the recent momentum in high-level exchanges and political dialogue has elevated bilateral ties to a new level, creating fresh opportunities for regional and multilateral cooperation.

According to the ministry, the ministers also exchanged views on current regional developments, underscoring their countries' longstanding tradition of supporting each other's legitimate interests on international platforms.

Bayramov and Dar further discussed initiatives under Pakistan’s July presidency of the United Nations Security Council, highlighting shared priorities on global and regional issues.

Azerbaijan and Pakistan have pledged to strengthen ties across a range of sectors during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) summit in Khankendi.

Thus, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, to discuss the current state of bilateral relations and future cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration, highlighting the importance of recent diplomatic exchanges at the highest levels.

“We reaffirmed that recent high-level exchanges have further strengthened our bilateral ties,” Dar said, adding that both sides are committed to expanding cooperation across key areas.

Dar also praised Azerbaijan for successfully hosting the summit and commended its active role within the ECO.

This year’s summit marks the first time Khankendi has hosted leaders from the ECO bloc. Delegations from ten member states, including Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, are in attendance.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is also participating as an observer.

The 17th ECO Summit is currently underway in the city of Khankendi, bringing together ECO Heads of State and Government, ministers, observers, special guests from non-ECO countries, and leaders of international organisations.

All participants are united in their efforts to foster development and prosperity through fragile economic integration.

The summit’s agenda focuses on discussions around economic integration, sustainable development, and future collaboration within the ECO framework.
