Azerbaijan clears over 7,700 hectares of landmines, unexploded ordnance PHOTO
Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has cleared more than 7,788.8 hectares of land and neutralised thousands of explosive hazards across territories liberated from occupation in April, 2026.
According to the agency’s latest monthly report, demining operations conducted across multiple regions—including Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, Zangilan, and the city of Khankandi—resulted in the detection and neutralisation of 344 anti-personnel mines, 116 anti-tank mines, and 3,410 items of unexploded ordnance, Caliber.Az reports.

ANAMA is responsible for clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance and other explosive remnants of war, except chemical weapons, in areas affected by military activity. Its duties also cover the temporary storage, transport and disposal of explosives, as well as the planning, coordination and management of demining operations across the country.
