Another group of former IDPs receives keys to new homes in Zangilan Updated

Another group of formerly displaced persons has arrived in the town of Zangilan, and the residents have been handed the keys to their flats.

The key-handing ceremony was attended by officials from the Special Representative Office of the President of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, as well as the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, local media reports.

At this stage, the permanent return of five families (26 people) to the town has been facilitated.

Another group of formerly displaced residents has returned to the village of Shukurbayli in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district as part of the country’s ongoing resettlement programme in territories liberated from occupation.

The returning residents were presented with the keys to their new flats during an official ceremony attended by representatives of the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, as well as officials from the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Authorities said the latest phase of the programme has enabled the permanent return of 107 families, comprising 453 people, to the village.

Azerbaijan has continued the resettlement of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) to territories liberated from occupation as part of the government’s “Great Return” programme launched under the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to official information, five families comprising 26 people are on their way to the town of Zangilan, while 107 families, or 453 people, are relocating to the village of Shukurbayli in the Jabrayil district, Caliber.Az reports via local media

The families had previously lived temporarily in different parts of the country, mainly in hostels, sanatoriums and administrative buildings following their displacement.

Residents returning to the liberated territories expressed gratitude to President Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the support and assistance provided by the state.

They also thanked the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and honoured the memory of servicemen killed liberating the territories from occupation.
