New groups of formerly displaced families have departed for Azerbaijan’s Zangilan city and the village of Shukurbeyli in the Jabrayil district as part of the “Great Return” programme, carried out in line with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev and continuing the resettlement process in the territories liberated from occupation.
At this stage, 59 families (235 people) are returning to Zangilan, while 97 families (419 people) are heading to Shukurbeyli, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
These families had previously been temporarily accommodated in dormitories, sanatoriums, children’s camps, as well as unfinished and administrative buildings.
Following the victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the Patriotic War under the leadership of President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, former internally displaced persons have gained the opportunity to return to their homeland voluntarily, safely, and with dignity after nearly 30 years.
Residents expressed gratitude to the head of state and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for comprehensive state support, and also thanked the Azerbaijani Army for liberating their lands from occupation. They paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs who lost their lives for this cause.
