Kazakh PM arrives in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli ahead of ECO summit in Khankandi
Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov arrived in Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli district on July 4 to take part in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which is set to take place in Khankandi.
An honour guard was lined up at Fuzuli International Airport to welcome the Kazakh official. Bektenov was received by Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, along with other senior Azerbaijani officials, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The ECO Leaders' Summit is being held in Khankandi for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the region’s post-conflict reintegration efforts. High-level delegations from all 10 member states — including Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan — are attending the summit. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is also participating in the event as an observer.
The summit provides a platform for regional leaders to strengthen economic ties, discuss infrastructure and energy cooperation, and reinforce commitments to sustainable development across the ECO region.
