02 July 2025 15:35

Turkish broadcaster Haber Global has released a detailed report on the recently convened ECO Women Forum held in Lachin, underlining the event’s significance and broad regional engagement.

The forum, organized for the first time, attracted considerable interest from a diverse array of high-ranking participants, including deputy ministers, parliamentarians, and officials from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, Caliber.Az reports.

The coverage highlighted the forum’s comprehensive agenda, which featured multiple panel discussions addressing critical contemporary issues such as urbanization, climate change, and other pressing global challenges. These sessions provided a platform for female leaders and policymakers from member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to share insights, collaborate, and promote women’s roles in shaping sustainable development policies.

Haber Global’s report emphasized the forum’s pioneering status, noting that the event was specifically designed to elevate the discourse on women’s contributions to socio-economic progress and environmental stewardship within the ECO region. The network’s coverage also acknowledged the strategic importance of such gatherings in fostering regional cooperation and empowering women to take leadership roles in addressing complex global issues.

The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Women Forum got underway in Lachin as a cornerstone event of the inaugural ECO Week, an initiative spearheaded by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Designed to promote cross-sectoral collaboration among ECO member states, the forum seeks to empower women across diverse facets of human development. It aims to underscore and amplify the pivotal role women play in fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient societies throughout the ECO region.

The agenda encompasses critical discussions on women’s contributions to climate sustainability, empowerment through education, digital inclusion, innovation, and the exchange of best practices, among other pressing themes.

Serving as a dynamic platform for dialogue and cooperation, the forum facilitates knowledge-sharing among women leaders from ECO member countries alongside relevant international partners, thereby advancing regional integration and gender-responsive development.
