Germany acknowledges delays in arms deliveries to Ukraine

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has admitted delays in arms deliveries to Ukraine.

"We currently have the problem, which is well known, that the arms industry cannot deliver as quickly as the demand is there in certain areas," said the SPD politician on the ZDF TV channel.

The arms industry is ramping up its capacities wherever it can.

"It's a question of speed, you can't influence the speed indefinitely," he said.

It takes time to set up a factory and build up the necessary stocks of ammunition and explosives in order to be able to produce quickly and rapidly.

As an example, Pistorius cites the production of Gepard tank ammunition, which Germany had to relaunch. Although this was done quickly, it also took six months.
