Armenia proposes Azerbaijan to create mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations

    SOCIETY  23 June 2024 - 09:49

The Armenian government has announced that Armenia again proposed Azerbaijan to create a mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations on the border.

“In addition to the Armenian prime minister’s statement dated June 15 and the Armenian government’s intention to prevent tension, the government, through diplomatic channels, proposed the Azerbaijani presidential administration to create a bilateral mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations,” Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian government.

The Armenian government proposes to begin practical work to launch the mechanism.

There is still tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan proceeding from a recent incident when Armenian armed forces shelled the Azerbaijani positions in the direction of Nakhchivan.

Armenian forces attacked the Azerbaijani positions by using small arms in Shada settlement of Shahbuz district in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on June 16, at 00:50 (GMT+4).
