Car sales down by 82% in Russia in June 2022

The Association of European Businesses has said that 27,760 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in the Russian market in June 2022, which is by 82 per cent less than in the same period of last year.
Moreover, the sales volume of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia decreased by 56.9 per cent or by 488,024 vehicles in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021. Some 370,228 cars were sold as of the first half of the year, Russia’s Gazeta.Ru reports.
Lada cars (74,714) were sold most of all in June 2022 (-63 per cent by June 2021).
Kia cars ranked second. Some 45,571 Russian residents bought Kia cars (-58 per cent).
Hyundai cars ranked third. Russian residents bought 39,777 Hyundai cars (-56 per cent) in June 2022.
