Ahmed al-Sharaa urges Syrians to embrace unity, stability On first anniversary of liberation day
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, on the first anniversary of former President Bashar al-Assad’s ousting, reassured the public of his commitment to restoring the country, according to SANA.
Following the morning prayer at the Grand Mosque of Damascus, al-Sharaa pledged to reopen government institutions across the nation and called on citizens to uphold unity and stability.
Across Syria, both popular and official celebrations took place on Monday, featuring military parades to mark the first anniversary of Liberation Day.
Hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in public squares to join the festivities and express their support for the transitional government.
The main celebration was held at Umayyad Square in Damascus, where people assembled early to attend the military parade organised by the Ministry of Defence along Mezzeh Highway.
On this day last year, revolutionary forces succeeded in ending Assad’s 54-year family rule, marking a historic transition in Syria’s leadership.
