Alibaba launches AI platform for enterprises amid China’s agent boom
Alibaba Group has unveiled a new artificial intelligence platform for enterprises, signaling an intensified push into China’s rapidly evolving AI agent market. The platform, called Wukong, aims to automate complex business tasks and comes amid the recent surge in popularity of open-source AI tools such as OpenClaw.
Wukong can coordinate multiple AI agents within a single interface to handle functions including document editing, spreadsheet updates, meeting transcription, and research. The platform is currently available through invitation-only beta testing, Caliber.Az reports via Reuters.
The launch follows Alibaba’s corporate reorganisation under the newly established Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) business group, with Wukong serving as the flagship product of the Wukong Business Unit. Users can access the platform as a standalone desktop application or via DingTalk, Alibaba’s collaboration platform with more than 20 million corporate users. Wukong will also integrate with other messaging services, including Slack, Microsoft Teams, and WeChat, according to a company press release.
The move comes as OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent tool, has captured widespread attention in China, prompting companies to develop similar offerings. Industry players including ByteDance, Tencent, and AI startup Zhipu have launched comparable platforms, even as regulators caution about potential security risks.
Alibaba’s Wukong represents the company’s strategic effort to consolidate its position in the enterprise AI sector, offering tools designed to streamline workflows and enhance productivity for businesses navigating the growing role of AI in corporate operations.
