Amancio Ortega becomes world’s largest commercial real estate owner
Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, whose retail empire includes Zara, Pull & Bear, Bershka and Oysho, has become the world’s largest and most valuable holder of real estate assets.
According to Forbes, his property portfolio is valued at over $25 billion.
Ortega owns more than 200 properties across 13 countries. His holdings include Madrid’s Torre Picasso skyscraper, the Grupo Planeta headquarters in Barcelona, the Royal Bank of Canada office building in Toronto, and Devonshire House in London. His real estate assets are managed through Pontegadea, Pontegadea GB, and Partler.
He is followed in the global rankings by Australian property investor Harry Triguboff, with $23.2 billion in assets, and US developer Donald Bren, with $19.2 billion.
As of 2026, Ortega remains Spain’s richest individual and ranks 10th on the global Forbes billionaire list with a net worth of €124 billion.
