Ambassador: Palestinian president may visit Russia on Victory Day
Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal has said that President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas is considering the possibility of visiting Moscow.
President Abbas is considering such a possibility to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day if he receives an official invitation, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"If an invitation is extended, he will definitely participate," the diplomat said.
On November 27, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico officially accepted an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the 2025 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9. On November 22, Fico stated that he was not afraid of criticism regarding his decision to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow.
On November 21, Fico announced that he would travel to Moscow alongside Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. He added that they share a common stance on the importance of respecting the countries that helped liberate their nations from fascism at the end of World War II.
Earlier, Putin stated that the CIS member states will jointly celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in WWII in 2025.
